Welcome to Cell Phone Analyzer™ (CPA) by â and BKForensics, Inc.

CPA is a data interpreter for cell phone flash files. CPA is built to fulfill the gap in current mobile phone analysis tools and brings simplicity to cell phone forensics.

CPA comes ready to support most popular phones.  Updates will be made available when support for additional phones is developed.

CPA is designed to handle five types of files:
  • Full Flash memory dumps
  • PM (or Permanent Memory dumps)
  • NOR memory
  • NAND memory
  • XML formatted files created by the Forensic Card Reader from Becker and Partners, Inc.
  • Motorola SMG file (data file acquired with the Flash&Backup 3.0 tool from Motorola-Tools.com

CPA is a tool designed to parse various types of data (often called a Flash File) originating from a logical or physical memory dump of a mobile phone or from a SIM card.  CPA will parse data files typically created by using devices known as card readers, in the case of SIM cards, or in the case of mobile phones, created by devices known as JAF, Twister, UFS, or Tornado Cables .  When forensically sound procedures are needed, devices which avoid write-protection should be used.

Memory dumps from mobile phones and SIM cards often contain data structure or binary data making it difficult to read or understand.  CPA has been designed to parse the data and present it in readable format using a simple 1-2-3 step process.

Step one - choose the analysis type; the type being the source of the data, such as memory dump of a mobile phone or a memory dump of a SIM card.

Step two - choose which data you want from a list of data types parsed from the source file.  The data types may include:
  • Pictures
  • Phone Book
  • SMS (text messages)
  • Email messages
  • Email addresses
  • Web pages
  • Internet URLs
  • Call logs
  • SIM card information

Step three - configure the report output.
