Q. I recently updated SIM Analyzer and now when the program starts up the Splash screen flashes then the application quits. HELP!

A. In January there was a bug in the update file that caused a license conflict. The conflict error is silent and the application just exits after the Splash screen. Please follow the steps below to get your SIM Analyzer running again.

  1. Uninstall SIM Analyzer via the Control Panel.
  2. Find the "..\CPA SIM Analyzer" folder off your \Program Files folder and delete it.
  3. Download SIM Lite or SIM Pro setup files and install it. (email support@datalifter.com for access)
  4. When you start SIM Analyzer, HOLD down the SHIFT + CTRL keys until the program quits or Splash screen goes away.
  5. Restart SIM Analyzer and you should be up and running.

Q. I'm trying to Activate my software using the Auto Activate method but I get an error message that says the program can't reach the License Server. HELP!

A. We have found that Firewalls, Corporate routers and Anti-Virus software are the most likely culprits. To override the Auto Activate option and start the Manual , press the CTRL key when you see the Software Activation window. This will let you go through a Manual activation method which will let you create an Activation Request file that you can email us so we can reply with your Activation Code.

Q. Cell Phone Analyzer and SIM Analyzer are both installed on Vista. When I try to use the "Check For Updates" feature I get a permissions error from Vista. HELP!

A. Follows these steps below;

  1. (If already installed, skip this step) Run normal install as you would for Windows XP for both CPA and SIM Analyzer.
  2. Before running "Check for Updates", open Windows Explorer and navigate to the installation folders for the software you have. For example, Cell Phone Analyzer will normally be installed at; C:\Program Files\Cell Phone Analyzer
  3. Right click on the working folder and go to “Properties”, then go to the “Security” tab.
  4. In the Group or User Names dialog box, scroll down to the “Users” and “Trusted Installer”. Give full control to both of these categories.

Once you have done this you can run "Check For Updates" and write to the working folders. Repeat this procedure for SIM Analyzer or Logical Analysis Workshop.

Q. I have SIM Analyzer installed but it's not seeing my SIM card reader. HELP!

A. Make sure you try SIM Analyzer while logged in with Administrator rights. If that does not fix the problem then it could be a driver conflict. We have discovered that some software installed with other SIM card readers does not play well with other software. Check your running processes and look for the following;

  1. sokscmnt.exe
  2. sokscmpn.exe

These services have been shown to cause conflicts with SIM Analyzer.

The following SIM card readers have been tested and shown to work correctly with SIM Analyzer Lite/Pro

  1. SCM335 - Drivers
  2. SCM331 - Drivers
  3. GEMPC Twin - Drivers
  4. Omnikey Cardman 6020 - Supported by Windows
  5. Triple S PC/SC Reader - Paraben

Q. I recently had to reinstall all my software but now Cell Phone Analyzer and SIM Analyzer Pro do not accept my Serial Numbers. HELP!

A. Both programs are controlled by a "lic" file. Cell Phone Analyzer uses the "365days.lic" file and SIM Analyzer uses the "cpa_sim.lic" file.

Run the normal Uninstall application first. Next find and delete the "365days.lic" file found in the installation directory. SIM Analyzer's license file is located in a different location than the installation folder. You can find it's license file in the "x:\Documents and Settings\<user_name>\Application Data\BKForensics folder. ** Depending on your settings, you might have to enable Show Hidden Folders to see this folder structure.
